Common Electrolux Dryer Problems
- Dryer runs but does not heat. Electrolux says to check both house breakers or fuses, make sure Air Fluff or a no-heat setting isn't selected, confirm 240V supply, and on gas models confirm the gas valve is open or the LP tank isn't empty. Source: Electrolux - My dryer is running, but does not seem to be heating. What should I do?
- Dryer takes too long to dry. Electrolux points first to a clean lint screen, the right heat setting, proper load size, clean moisture sensor bars, and a clear exhaust duct and hood. Source: Electrolux - Dryer - Not Drying and Extended Drying Time
- Dryer will not start. Electrolux says to hold Start for about two seconds, make sure the door is fully closed and the cord is firmly plugged in without an extension cord, and check the fuse or breaker. Source: Electrolux - What should I do if my dryer does not start?
- Dryer stops mid-cycle. Electrolux says an overloaded drum can overheat the motor, so let it cool about 30 minutes and dry a smaller load filling a third to half of the drum. Source: Electrolux - What should I do if my dryer stops operating?
- Dryer rattling, squeaking or vibrating. Electrolux says to check pockets for coins and fasten buckles, tighten a loose pedestal, and on new installs confirm shipping bolts are removed and the dryer is level. Source: Electrolux - Laundry Dryer Noises
- Clothes over-dried. Electrolux recommends choosing the right cycle and temperature and using Auto Dry rather than Timed Dry. Source: Electrolux - My clothes seem to be over-dried. How can I prevent this?
Care Electrolux Recommends
- Clean the lint screen before or after every load and wash it periodically in warm soapy water, letting it dry fully before reinstalling. Source: Electrolux - Dryer - Not Drying and Extended Drying Time
- Inspect and clean the entire outdoor exhaust and venting system every 18 months. Source: Electrolux - Dryers - How often do I need to clean my dryer or the lint screen/filter?
- Wipe the moisture sensor bars with rubbing alcohol to remove fabric softener sheet residue. Source: Electrolux - Dryer - Not Drying and Extended Drying Time
- Use an approved exhaust hood with a swing-out damper, never put a screen over the opening, and keep the hood at least 12 inches above the ground; gas dryers must vent outdoors. Source: Electrolux - Dryer - Not Drying and Extended Drying Time
